Though bleach is found in laundry rooms across the world, many people don't realize that it can do more than keep your socks looking white. Bleach is one of the most versatile household products on the market and can be used in virtually every room of the house. To properly use bleach in all areas of the home, from the laundry room to the playroom, consider the tips below.
Bathroom:
Tackle toilets
There's no such thing as a too-clean toilet. Clean and disinfect in and around your toilet using the tips below:
- Flush toilet.
- Pour 240 mL (1cup) of Ultra Javex® Bleach by Clorox into bowl.
- Brush entire bowl and rim with a scrub brush or mop.
- Let stand for ten minutes before flushing again.
Wave goodbye to mildew stains
Yellow mildew stains lurking on bathroom grout and tiles are never a pretty sight. Remove tough mildew stains from bathroom tiles with the following steps:
- Wash and rinse grout and tiles with water.
- Mix 240 mL (1 cup) of bleach with 3.8 litres of water and apply the solution directly on the tiles.
- Let stand for five minutes before rinsing.
- Repeat if necessary on heavily soiled surfaces.
Kitchen:
Clean and deodorize kitchen cloths
Got a pungent smell coming from the kitchen? It could be your kitchen cloths. Synthetic kitchen cloths can carry strong odours, leaving you and your family susceptible to unwanted smells in the home. Keep kitchen cloths deodorized and clean the kitchen sink at the same time using the tips below:
- In your kitchen sink, mix a solution of 3.8 litres of water with 180 mL (¾ cup) of Ultra Javex® Bleach by Clorox.
- Soak kitchen cloths in the solution for at least five minutes.
- Rinse sink and cloths and air dry.
Keep cut flowers fresh, longer
Want to keep those fresh cut tulips looking gorgeous? Keep cut flowers looking fresh longer by adding a six or seven drops of bleach to a vase holding one litre of water.
Kids' Room:
Keep kids' toys clean
Though children are encouraged to share their toys, they often end up sharing bacteria too. Rid hard plastic toys of bacteria using the tips below:
- Wash, wipe and rinse hard plastic toys with water.
- Soak toys for 10 minutes in a mixture made from 180 mL (¾ cup) of bleach and 3.8 litres of water.
- Rinse and air dry.
Keep stuffed animals clean
To clean stuffed animals, put them inside a pillowcase, tie a knot and wash them in the washing machine with Javex2® Stain Fighter & Colour Booster by Clorox liquid. Be sure not to put toys with large plastic parts in the washer!
Laundering baby clothes
From food and formula to spit up and leaky diapers, babies are stain magnets. Baby clothes do not need to be washed separately from the rest of the family's clothing, but they do need a little extra care. Wash baby clothes, blankets, towels and sheets in a mild detergent and Javex2® Stain Fighter & Colour Booster by Clorox - Free liquid which is free of perfumes and dyes. Remember to only use the recommended amount of detergent (too much may leave an irritating residue) and the warmest water you can according to the label.
Always read and follow precautions and usage directions before using cleaning products. Always store cleaning products out of reach of children.
